Improvisation and Playbuilding Demonstration

For primary school students

Demonstrations at NIDA provide an opportunity for students to see actors at work as they test the skills, processes and techniques students are required to use in classrooms on the rehearsal room floor.

Opportunities for students include:

Watching actors respond spontaneously to a range of stimuli as they participate in a series of improvisation and playbuilding exercises.

Listening to actors identify and deconstruct the skills required to create and devise original work.

Participating in improvisations on the floor.

A Q&A session so students can appreciate and discuss why and how actors make the choices they do.

On the day

• Please wear loose fitting comfortable clothing that you can move in.
• Please wear closed toed shoes. This is a WHS requirement.
• Please bring a pen and paper or electronic device for note taking during class.

Terms and conditions

NIDA requires full payment for your course one week prior to course start date. NIDA cannot refund the course fees unless we cancel the course.
If you wish to transfer or withdraw, you must advise us in writing at least 2 weeks before the start date of the course. We will then issue a credit note for the full value to be used within 12 months. A cancellation fee may apply.

• Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
