Here are the most common questions people ask about NIDA Open programs for Adults.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
See terms and conditions for full details about transfers, refunds and cancellations.
Do I have to audition to get into a NIDA Open course?
Generally, NIDA Open courses are open to all. There are some courses, which have been designed to suit people with more advanced skills or experience. This is indicated on the information for courses. The NIDA Studio and Residency courses are selective and require an audition, interview or written application.
How do I book a course?
You can enrol online using a Visa or Mastercard credit card. Our website payment portal is a secure site. Alternatively, you can call us and enrol over the phone using a credit card.
Can I find out which tutors will be teaching me prior to the course?
You can contact us one week prior to the commencement of the course to find out who is teaching. Please keep in mind that at times it is necessary for us to make staffing changes at short notice.
Where do I go on my first day?
We will send you information via email which will identify the venue details and meeting point for your course. You can also find the venue information on our website.
What does NIDA organise and what do I need to arrange?
NIDA arranges your course tuition. You need to make your own arrangements for food, travel and, if appropriate, for accommodation. But remember to call the office to confirm the course is going ahead before confirming your travel bookings.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing for any performance related course. Clothes that restrict movement are inappropriate – no high heels, short skirts or jeans please.
All students must wear closed in shoes that may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor. Design and technical courses may take place in workshop areas or in theatres, and to access these areas you need to wear close toe footwear (shoes or boots).
All students should bring along a water bottle notepad, something to write with and/or a device or tablet to take notes.
Can I smoke at the venue?
Smoking is not permitted at the NIDA Kensington campus, or in any of the venues or grounds used by NIDA
Is lunch provided as part of my course?
Courses are not catered. Please bring your own refreshments. If your course is taking place at the Kensington campus, there is a café which operates during the day that sells food and drink.

We only provide an electronic copy of your work if we have stated in our course copy that scenes will be provided at the end of the course.
Do I get a certificate from attending a course?*
NIDA issues a Certificate of Attendance for Adults who attend a course longer than two days. Studio students receive a Certificate of Achievement.
If I have any further questions will I be able to obtain the tutors contact details after I finish my course?
We do not release our tutors' personal contact details. However our course managers are happy to assist you with any questions after your course is completed. We recommend that you stay updated with our latest courses to continue with the learning process once the course has ended. It is also helpful to check our website for any extension courses that follow on from your most recent course.
If I do a NIDA Open course, will it help me to get into a NIDA Higher Education course?
NIDA Open courses help you to know whether a career in the entertainment industry is right for you, what aspect of the entertainment industry suits you best, and whether NIDA full-time training is for you.
