Step into the epic universe of Planet Wars and immerse yourself in Intergalactic Adventures! Create your own space-explorer character and join forces with a legion of fellow travellers as you explore voice and movement to create original stories and scenes inspired by your heroic adventures. Dive into well-known scripts from popular films and learn the art of rehearsing and filming scenes for the camera. Taught by our experienced NIDA Open teaching artists, students will develop confidence and acting skills through engaging, practical exercises. Unleash your inner hero and captivate audiences in this exciting holiday course!
Course components
- Technique: Practice acting to camera techniques. Discover the difference between live and recorded performance craft.
- Character Development: Develop and shoot a character from a scripted scene.
- Text interpretation: Apply NIDA acting techniques to explore and bring text to life on screen

- Flights and accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
- Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
- Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
- NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
- If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
