Holiday course
Turn your favourite animated and computer game stories into a real-life adventure! Invent a monster or character inspired by popular computer games or animated characters and design a unique world for your character to live in. Create real life adventures, work on team challenges and create a short presentation for your NIDA friends.
Course components
- Creative Voice: Participate in fun and engaging drama exercises to develop personal and creative confidence.
- Physical Expression: Participate in games and exercises that promote expressive movement, physical command and spatial awareness.
- Storytelling: Explore computer game and animated characters through improvisation to create short scenes for live performance.
- Characters: Experiment with vocal and physical expression to create an original character for performance.
- Performance and Collaboration: Work as part of a team to achieve a shared goal through performance.
Prerequisites
This course is designed for children who attend full time school. If your child is not yet attending school, please see our selection of Creative Play courses designed for pre-school children.
Important information

- Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
- Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
- Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
- NIDA staff will supervise students at all times. Students are not permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
- If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
