Skills NT - Costume Design and Realisation for Screen

Develop original character designs for screen. Explore practical exercises that build skills and inspire visual excellence as a storyteller and collaborator.

Course components

• Extract costume concepts from a screenplay and explore design ideas through practical exercises.
• Apply rendering techniques to a costume design.
• Explore and practice skills in art finishing.

• Application of design principles to develop a creative concept for a costume.
• Technical and artistic knowledge to bring your costume ideas to life.

Pre-requisites

Some experience necessary – drawing and basic hand sewing.

Course enrolment is open to people over 18 years old. This course is available specifically for residents of the Northern Territory.

Course Information

The course will run 10am-5pm with a 45min lunch break. Lunch is not provided.

• Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
• Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
• Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
