Skills NT - Costume Design Essentials

Develop original character designs for stage or screen with practical exercises that build skills and inspire visual excellence as a storyteller and collaborator.

Course components

• Extract costume design concepts from a script and explore ideas through practical exercises and feedback
• Apply rendering techniques to a costume design
• Create a costume design for a character from a play or film to present to an audience

Outcomes

• Application of design principles to develop a creative concept for a costume
• Ability to confidently pitch an idea for a costume design concept
• Technical and artistic knowledge to bring your costume ideas to life

Pre-requisites

No experience necessary. 

Course enrolment is open to people over 18 years old. This course is available specifically for residents of the Northern Territory.

All course materials will be provided.

• Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
• Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
