The Viewpoints: An Introduction

A fun introduction to the Viewpoints technique of improvisation and composition made famous by Ann Bogart and the SITI Company of New York. Explore your interactions with other actors through time and space in the nine physical Viewpoints. Develop spontaneity, flexibility and playfulness.
Course components
- Physical ensemble warm up to encourage peripheral vision, soft focus, ensemble listening and reactivity.
- Introduction to the Viewpoints grid and a selection of the nine physical Viewpoints.
- Practise ensemble improvisation and composition exercises using the physical Viewpoints.
Outcomes
- An understanding of the notions of time and space that underpin the 9 physical Viewpoints.
- Increased actor awareness and physical dexterity.
- A developed sense of’extraordinary listening' to improve your collaborative skills.

- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
