Stand-up Comedy for Beginners: Discover and develop skills in stand-up comedy. Explore slapstick, clowning and the double act. Write and tell funny stories, use the microphone effectively and make your audience laugh! This course is excellent for building confidence in front of an audience.
Course components
- Experiment with clowning and slapstick performance styles and other comedic technique in the safe, supportive environment of the rehearsal room.
- Improve your confidence as you learn the tips and tricks of addressing and responding to an audience.
- Work alongside an industry expert as you perform your very own stand-up routine in front of an audience.
Outcomes
- The application of comedic techniques whilst writing performance material.
- Increased confidence when public speaking and whilst performing as a comedian.
- The performance of your own stand-up comedy routine.

- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
