Screen Acting: On Location at Cockatoo Island

For adults 18+ (Beginner)

Rehearse and perform scenes from contemporary film and TV and gain confidence in acting boldly but honestly for the camera on location. Follow industry standard shooting practices with an industry professional tutor on the cinematic surrounds of Cockatoo Island. Receive a copy of selected scenes.

Course components

• Master the technical approach to Screen Acting; unpack eye-line, building a relationship on camera and hitting your mark.
• Explore characterisation techniques and their application to scripted text.
• Introduction to the challenges of shooting ‘on-location’: learn about consistency of performance, location scouting and working within the limitations of the environment.

Outcomes

• Ability to use voice and movement to create truthful on-screen characters.
• Demonstration of capacity to rehearse and present scenes authentically.
• Aptitude to collaborate and work within the challenges presented when shooting on location.
