NIDA Acting Techniques 2

For adults 18 years +

Level: Applied Techniques

For students who have completed NIDA Acting Techniques (or equivalent). Develop your existing acting skills and learn to trust your creative instincts. Practise various approaches to creating dynamic, embodied characters and tackle challenging exercises to explore character arc. Deepen your understanding of the importance of status in contrasting contemporary scenes.

Students should be familiar with the basic language of the Stanislavski system.

Course components

  • Physical and vocal techniques for creating character.
  • Application of status shifts to improvisation and text.
  • Advanced text analysis.

Outcomes

  • Understanding of the physical and vocal demands of creating character.
  • Increased ensemble awareness and the ability to respond to complex creative stimulus.
  • Ability to analyse texts independently

  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
