Directing Actors for the Screen
For adults 18 years +
Level: Applied Techniques
Under the supervision of a professional director, work with NIDA trained actors to investigate a variety of methods by which to explore text and elicit outstanding screen performances.
Course components
- Examine a variety of directing techniques and styles in a practical workshop format.
- Develop directing methods to get the most out of your NIDA actors on the rehearsal room floor.
- Gain an insight into the technical considerations directors face including shot selection, lighting and sound.
Outcomes
- Experience in working with actors in a supportive environment whilst being mentored by an industry professional.
- Confidence in casting and communicating with actors both on and off the rehearsal room floor.
- Awareness of technical considerations whilst directing for the screen.

- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
